Parts For 911 1975-1977 3.0L Turbo (930)

About 911 1975-1977 3.0L Turbo (930)

In 1975, Porsche introduced the first production turbocharged 911. While known as the 930 Turbo in Europe (designated by its internal type number, 930), it was marketed as the 930 Turbo Carrera in North America. The body design featured widened wheel arches to accommodate the wide 205/50R15 & 225/50R15 Pirelli P7 tires, along with a prominent rear spoiler commonly referred to as a "whale tail," adapted from the original 1974 IROC design. Initially equipped with a 3.0-liter engine generating 260 PS (191 kW; 256 hp) and paired with a four-speed manual transmission, this model marked a significant milestone for Porsche.

The production of the initial 400 units qualified the 930 for FIA Group 4 competition. Its racing counterpart, the Porsche 934, debuted in 1976 and competed in events like the 24 Hours of Le Mans, challenging rivals such as the BMW 3.0 CSL "Batmobile." Subsequently, the FIA Group 5 version, known as the Porsche 935, emerged from the 934 lineage. Sporting a distinctive "slant nose," this powerhouse, delivering over 500 PS, clinched the world championship title in 1976 under factory support. Privateer teams continued to excel with the 935, securing victories at prestigious races including Le Mans in 1979, sustaining its competitive edge well into the 1980s until regulatory changes from bodies like the FIA and IMSA altered the landscape.
