Porsche unveiled the second-generation 971.1 Panamera bringing about significant updates. The redesign addressed the previous hunchback appearance, resulting in a wider, lower, and sleeker design that greatly enhanced the car's overall aesthetic. Inside, the interior underwent a complete transformation, featuring touch-capacitive surfaces and expansive display screens.
Under the hood, the base Panamera received a 3.0ltr turbocharged V6 engine, delivering 325 horsepower at 5400 rpm and 332 lb-ft of torque at 1800 rpm. Performance was notably impressive, with the entry-level Panamera achieving a 0-60 mph time of just 5.6 seconds and a top speed of 163 mph.
Inside the cabin, the integration of touch-screen technology was prominent, leading to the disappearance of some physical buttons from both the center console and dashboard. A prominent 12.3" touch-screen infotainment unit took center stage on the dashboard, offering seamless integration, albeit lacking Android Auto connectivity. Porsche justified this decision by citing their predominantly iPhone-using user base, offering only Apple CarPlay compatibility. Android users had to resort to a specialized Porsche app to interface with the unit. Additionally, two 7" TFT screens flanked the sides, providing a plethora of vehicle information, including navigation.
