After a very extensive R & D program we are proud to launch the new 981 IPD 82mm Competition Plenums. We only offer "Competition" versions of the 981 Plenums which upgrades the factory 74mm throttle body with the larger 997 GT3 82mm throttle body. This combination has proven to be considerably more popular and deliver even more performance. This Competition version will work with both 3.4L "S" and 2.7L "Non-S" applications.

The 981 intake is nearly identical to the 987.2 intake. Porsche made a few upgrades with the 981, most notably being that the 981 draws outside air from both driver and passenger air intakes instead of the driver's side only as previously found with all 986, 987 and 987.2 applications. IPD has included a custom silicone hose designed to perfectly fit the larger 82mm TB and considerably improve air flow.

The new 981 Plenums also benefits from the internal dimpling effect that we are now implementing on all future Plenums. This internal dimpling allows us to control the boundary layer and maximize air flow. Just like a dimpled golf ball travels farther than a smooth golf ball. Controlled turbulent air creates less friction and "tumbles" over a given area more efficiently.

Power gains with the 981 Competition Plenum are virtually the same as with the 987.2 Competition Plenum, putting down 20 horsepower and 16 foot pounds of torque at the wheels. The bulk of the power gains from the IPD Plenum begin around 4000 rpm, continues all the way through to redline and become fully realized in the 6000 rpm range. IPD performance gains stay above both factory power curves throughout the entire rev range

After a very extensive R & D program we are proud to launch the new 981 IPD 82mm Competition Plenums. We only offer "Competition" versions of the 981 Plenums which upgrades the factory 74mm throttle body with the larger 997 GT3 82mm throttle body. The direct oil feed (DOF) solution uses a patent pending custom made Intermediate Shaft Flange that utilizes a direct oil feed to the original Intermediate Shaft Bearing. It uses an adapted pressure fed oil line from a positive oil pressure feed on the cylinder head directly to an opening in the custom Intermediate Shaft Flange. This feeds fresh oil directly to the open end of the IMS bearing (after removing the seal to expose the ball bearings on the IMS bearing). By using a positive oil feed from the engine's cylinder head valve cover, there will always be a consistent flow of oil directed to the open end of the intermediate shaft bearing.

This is a cost effective way to help protect against a possible IMS bearing failure, using the original bearing. The system, however can also be used when replacing the bearing with a new SKF steel ball bearing for added insurance with a new, zero mile bearing.

The IPD 987.2 Boxster "Competition" Plenum was designed to meet the needs of the most demanding Boxster S enthusiasts. The "Competition" Plenums is internally larger and specifically designed to utilized the larger 82mm 997 GT3 throttle body. This new 987.2 Competition Plenum follows in the foot steps of the very successful 987.1 Competition Plenum, which has proven itself to be the absolute single best performance mod that can be installed on any 987.1. The combination of the patented IPD "Y" designed Plenum and Porsche's largest TB yield great performance gains that can be seen and felt throughout the entire power band.

The "Competition" version was designed and developed to work with Boxster S's equipped with high quality high-flow aftermarket cat-back exhausts. The addition of headers and high-flow cats will only further compliment the dramatic increases with intake air flow delivered by the IPD Plenum.

Performance gains take place throughout both horsepower and torque curves but are most realized through the mid-range and well into peak power range. This system develops up to 20+ HP on Boxster already equipped with aftermarket cat-back exhausts. Scavenging and aeration in the oil pan have been identified as a problem in 996/997, Boxster, and Cayman models experiencing high G-forces on the racetrack. The R-9095 oil pan spacer provides a simple solution. This spacer increases sump capacity by half a quart, providing more reserve to ward off starvation. The R-9095 is approved by the Porsche Club of America for use in PCA club racing Stock and Prepared class cars. The R-9095 kit clears all factory options including the rear skid plate. Added oil capacities as well as increased oil pan surface area increase oil cooling and engine performance.

*Note: Oil pan and sump baffle are OEM parts and do not need to be purchased. Baffle spacer and pick-up tube spacer are included in this kit.

What size serpentine belt to run when using an under drive pulley?

The stock serpentine belt length for a 986 Porsche Boxster or Porsche 996 with air conditioning is 2115mm Porsche part # 996 102 151 64. If you remove the air conditioning but keep the stock drive pulley you will need a new serpentine belt that is 1930mm in length. If you then decide to add an underdrive pulley in the range of 4.25 to 5 inches in diameter you will need a belt 1905mm in length. For those of you who would like to add an under drive pulley with air conditioning, the proper length is 2101mm.

The Accusump is designed collect pressurized oil from your engine and store it so it may be discharged later during low oil pressure surges to protect against engine damage during demanding racing conditions. After the oil pressure stabilizes, the piston inside the Accusump moves back and forth, pressurizing the Accusump until it equalizes with engine's oil pressure. The Electric Pressure Control Valve we use is for a discharge/refill of 35-40 PSI. These valves have the convenience of an electric valve for remote mounted units on daily drivers but with the rapid refill rate of a manual valve as required in racing. The E.P.C. valving will only allow the Accusump to discharge oil when the engine's oil pressure drops below a predetermined level and only refill when the pressure rises above that level.

The LN Engineering HPDE Accusump kit is easy to install, requiring plumbing of only a single oil line. Our universal Accusump kit has everything you need to carry out a custom Accusump installation in your Boxster, Cayman, or 911, sans wiring or electrical pieces and includes a two quart Marine Accusump system including LN Engineering's Spin-On Full-Flow Oil Filter Adapter, single input sandwich adapter (for easy one-line installation - fits between filter and LN spin on filter adapter), the LN Engineering Billet Washable High Performance Oil Filter, 45 psi electronic valve, hose, and fittings. In conjunction with the installation of an Accusump, we recommend adding an X51 oil baffle and 997 oil return tubes for improved oil control and ensure scavenge oil is returned to the sump as quickly as possible. Roller bearings are not intended for carrying large axial loads. Similar to failure-prone ball bearings, when cylindrical roller bearings are used for thrust control, the roller becomes compromised due to the limited surface contact area on the sides of the rollers. The results of using a cylindrical bearing for thrust control will be similar to all other ball bearing solutions.

In our patented system, we use a 15mm cylindrical bearing with thrust control that allows for the separation of the axial load from the radial load. • The RSS Tarmac Series Performance Transmission Mounts are designed for the Porsche driver who demands the absolute maximum in precision handling, feedback and control from their chassis.

• With factory Transmission mounts, the drivetrain will move independent of the chassis during acceleration, deceleration and cornering loads. This movement can upset the balance of the vehicle and create negative handling effects.

• RSS Performance Transmission mounts minimize these effects by utilizing specialized polyurethane bushings which offer a firmer, more direct driving feel with optimum feedback.

• This upgrade will NOT significantly affect ride quality or cause knock sensor issues commonly associated with solid transmission mounts.

The RSS Harmonically Damped Underdrive Pulley is ideal for engines that are running light weight flywheels, engines that are built - bored/stroked and engines that are driven hard.

• Offers improved HP & TQ by reducing drag from the power steering pump, A/C, water pump and alternator without detrimental effects on said ancillary systems.
• Dampens/reduces internal engine harmonics for improved engine performance, efficiency and longevity.
