If you ask us, this is as good as you can make an intercooler kit for this platform.
No rock has been left unturned in our quest for maximum performance in any given section of the system. The starting point is the cores from renowned Garrett Motorsport, these are incredibly well-made with thin and stacked fins, exactly according to our specification in the weighing of cooling and airflow. The end tanks are made from thin, cast aluminium to keep the weight down and still utilise airflow. To accommodate the thicker core, we replace the air guides with carbon ducts made of the best quality.
To remove bottlenecks throughout the system, the intercooler connections are made bigger and come along with do88 silicone hoses designed with soft, sweeping bends. We have not made any sacrifice or compromise during this development

Background:

Upon launching the 992 generation, Porsche had already abandoned the naturally aspirated engine. From now on, all 911´s are turbocharged which makes this entry-level legend interesting also for the ones aiming for those bigger HP-numbers. Each car model comes with its own challenges and preconditions. While the principle is the same as ever, the layout of the intercooler system is something entirely new on this platform compared to previous Porsche 911´s. With our knowledge and experience from previous developments, we sat down by the drawing board with equal shares of confidence and respect. As a pioneer on this new platform on the market we realised we had to be very accurate and forward-thinking. Today we are proud of our achievements for the 992!

Earlier versions of the Porsche 911 have their intercoolers inside each rear fender, with a y-pipe uniting them both before the charge air reaches the inlet manifold. The 992 has a different set-up entirely. The intercooler and y-pipe are now combined to a unit that sits beneath the rear wing. The ambient air is pushed via channels from the rear window, into a scoop on the decklid, and onwards through the intercooler core for optimal heat transfer. The active rear wing is crucial for the efficiency of the core as it directs more air in its upright position. Looking at the construction from the side, this configuration really makes more sense, but is also more demanding for us a performance cooling manufacturer. To be able to fit a core with greater volume and surface area, we had to develop new carbon ducts to allow the increase in thickness. We are very happy to have taken our carbon production to the next level with this product - the fitment and finish worthy of an icon as the 911!

Cores from Garrett:

The cores are Bar&Plate, made by renowned Garrett Motorsport. Quite frankly, they are as good as they get. Thin and stacked cooling fins give a dense construction, providing very efficient heat transfer. The core measures 105 mm (4") and are exactly as thick as you possibly can make them for this application. The air is distributed to the entire core via free form-designed, cast end tanks. Designing these was a significant undertaking that concluded 3D-scanning, CFD-analysis and 3D-printing many times over until we had a finished prototype. We chose, as usual, to use cast end tanks as they allow shapes that CNC-machining cannot replicate, and to us function always conquers form. Maximum airflow supersedes the bling factor! The tanks are made with machined 70 mm (2,75") connections to enable high outputs. To pair with these bigger connections, we also include silicone hoses. Both cores are united by a central outlet tank towards the inlet manifold, utilising machined connections and meth bungs.

Ambient air guides made from carbon:

The air guides are made from vacuum infused, prepreg carbon and all pieces come with fastening grooves for the air channels just like the OE bits. As complex as the shapes are, we still guarantee perfect fitment. The two upper air guides are always the same regardless of what car you have, but for the two lower pieces there is an option: Standard or SportDesign.
SportDesign has better evacuation of the cooling air via an outlet in the middle of the bumper. From a performance standpoint, SportDesign is preferred, but we offer carbon ducts for both versions. They come with proper rubber seals where this is needed to prevent the cooling air to escape pass the core.

Performance:

When it comes down to performance, the do88 intercoolers significantly reduce the intake temperature! In the graph below the difference towards the OE 992 units is presented. The data is collected with an AIM race logger under 5 consecutive runs in an immediate sequence on a closed airstrip. Full throttle accelerations between 50-250 km/h (30-155 mph) carried out in a Porsche 911 Carrera S (450 hp). Hard braking, no cool down in between, just full pull five times. The rear wing was in its upper position all the time.

The test was conducted in the following manner:

Firstly, 5 runs were made with the car equipped with the 992 OE intercoolers. Stop, fast change of parts to the do88 intercoolers. Shakedown for a few minutes and then five runs made in the exact same way as with the OE parts. The decrease in inlet air temperature is significant, peak delta is 9°C (16,2 F). See the graph below!

Cooling is important, and so is airflow. After many hours in the development, refining the end tanks and choosing a core to meet our demand, the result is an intercooler that is much more efficient in terms of heat transfer as well as airflow. Using our in-house flowbench, the Superflow SF-1020 Probench, the airflow is verified for both the do88 intercoolers and the OE 992 units. What you see is what you get – true performance

From now on, all 911´s are turbocharged which makes this entry-level legend interesting also for those aiming for higher HP-numbers. Each car model comes with its own challenges and preconditions. While the principle is the same as ever, the layout of the intercooler system is something entirely new on this platform compared to previous versions, and this also affects the air intake. Contrary to earlier versions, the 992 no longer has a common, united air filter for both turbo chargers. The air intake is still located in the decklid, now shared with the intercooler ambient duct, but the air filters themselves and their housings are located inside each rear fender, thus better shielded from the surrounding heat from the engine bay. Looking at it from the side, this solution has more thought to it, but there absolutely is room for improvement – we give you the do88 intake kit

About the Induction System:

We started the development by 3D-scanning the entire designated area on the car. This allowed us to work in a sensible manner, with the products in our CAD-environment using SolidWorks. The entire air filter system is optimised for airflow and radius's and angles are reworked many times to achieve the best result! The finished product is verified with both Computer Flow Dynamics (CFD) as well with our Superflow SF1020 flowbench. All efforts are made to offer real and trustworthy data for you as a customer.

The do88 air intake kit is made from vacuum infused, prepreg carbon fibre of the finest quality. It comes with CNC-machined connections towards the turbo inlet hoses. To boost the airflow, the kit really takes advantage of the full space provided within the car´s structure. The carbon housings are made to accommodate a big, inverted cone filter from renowned BMC, featuring their finest filter media at hand. The intake kit is held in place by a stainless water jet cut bracket. The do88 intake kit replaces the entire OE air filter box and is a true performance upgrade!

Included in this kit are also custom silicone hoses made to ensure a perfect fitment towards the car´s air guides, shared with the intercoolers. This makes for a completely closed joint where no air can escape. The hoses come in a discrete, matte black finish.

This kit contains all you need to mount this on a Carrera, Carrera S or a GTS. It comes in three different versions:

• do88 intake kit alone with 66mm connections towards OE inlet hoses.
• do88 intake kit with 66mm connections and do88 66mm inlet hoses.
• do88 intake system with 80mm connections and 80mm inlet hoses.

All three options provide better airflow, see the diagram for data. The model with 80mm connections will steal more room on the inner fender, by the rear tires. Please consider this when/if further modifications are done on the vehicle.

We are very proud of the performance upgrade this kit brings – especially on tuned cars demanding more oxygen, but an otherwise strictly unmodified car will also see improvements from the better airflow

The inlet system on the Porsche 992 is completely revised from previous versions. It has a completely different layout but the principle is the same of course. As ever – as cold air and as much of it as possible is what brings effect and elevates the driving experience behind the wheel.

• 3D, freeform designed inlet hoses made from the finest silicone.
• CNC-machined turbo inlet adapters.
• Fits towards OE or do88 air filter box (66 mm).

Considerations

The efficiency of a turbocharged engine is under direct influence of the inlet air temperature (IAT) and the back pressure in the system. A crucial aspect, yet very often overlooked, is having sufficient airflow before the compressor to avoid surge. Less vacuum and colder air enables the turbo to produce a larger mass which in the end means more air to the intake – summing up, this means noticeable power gains. There are great power wins to be earned with a good induction system! Throughout our years in this business, with countless hours of evaluation and development, we have seen the coherent connection in between IAT, sufficient airflow to the compressor, and the impact this has on the output. The Porsche 911, with its twin turbochargers and vast tuning potential, is always begging for more air!. That was always the case with the 911 – it still is!

DO88 turbo inlet hoses

We started the development by 3D-scanning the entire designated area on the car. This allowed us to work in a sensible manner, with the products in our CAD-environment using SolidWorks. The entire air filter system is optimised for airflow and radiuses and angles are reworked many times to achieve the best result! The finished product is verified with both Computer Flow Dynamics (CFD) as well with our Superflow SF1020 flowbench. All efforts are made to offer real and trustworthy data for you as a customer.

The kit comes with hoses in a textured black finish, CNC-machined adapters towards the turbos and top-quality, black hose clamps. The hoses are adapted to the OE air filter boxes, or the do88 air filter system with 66 mm connections.

Please note that these hoses provide a good upgrade. We consider them a solid first step in the refinement of your Porsche 911. However, we´d like to underline the fact that the best effect is achieved when these hoses are used in junction with the do88 air filter system. With that upgrade, all restrictions before the turbo inlet are eliminated and the turbos can reach their full potential!

About the Inlet Hoses:

We started the development by 3D-scanning the entire designated area on the car. This allowed us to work in a sensible manner, with the products in our CAD-environment using SolidWorks. The entire air filter system is optimised for airflow and radius's and angles are reworked many times to achieve the best result! The finished product is verified with both Computer Flow Dynamics (CFD) as well with our Superflow SF1020 flowbench. All efforts are made to offer real and trustworthy data for you as a customer.

The kit comes with hoses in a textured black finish, CNC-machined adapters towards the turbos and top-quality, black hose clamps. The hoses are adapted to the OE air filter boxes, or the do88 air filter system with 66 mm connections.

Please note that these hoses provide a good upgrade. We consider them a solid first step in the refinement of your Porsche 911. However, we´d like to underline the fact that the best effect is achieved when these hoses are used in junction with the do88 air filter system. With that upgrade, all restrictions before the turbo inlet are eliminated and the turbos can reach their full potential

Background

The inlet system on the Porsche 992 is completely revised from previous versions. It has a completely different layout but the principle is the same of course. As ever – as cold air and as much of it as possible is what brings effect and elevates the driving experience behind the wheel.

Considerations

The efficiency of a turbocharged engine is under direct influence of the inlet air temperature (IAT) and the back pressure in the system. A crucial aspect, yet very often overlooked, is having sufficient airflow before the compressor to avoid surge. Less vacuum and colder air enables the turbo to produce a larger mass which in the end means more air to the intake – summing up, this means noticeable power gains. There are great power wins to be earned with a good induction system! Throughout our years in this business, with countless hours of evaluation and development, we have seen the coherent connection in between IAT, sufficient airflow to the compressor, and the impact this has on the output. The Porsche 911, with its twin turbochargers and vast tuning potential, is always begging for more air!. That was always the case with the 911 – it still is

About the Intercooler Pipes:

Crafted from mandrel bent 63 mm (2,5") aluminium piping, this kit offers improved airflow and more resilience over time. They are wrapped up in a matte black, structure powder coating. As a finishing touch they come with matte black silicone hoses, whereof the turbo outlet hoses are made from a high-temp spec. material that can handle 240°C continuous temperature. The hose clamps for this position are of the "constant tension" type, meaning they will compensate for temperature fluctuations in the material.

The use of 3D scanning to generate a 3D model in our CAD environment really opens up the possibilities to optimise the products as much as possible. With the car´s given structure as a base, we reworked the piping and hoses for radius's and angles many times over until there was no more room for improvement. This scientific approach and the flexibility the 3D scanning bring to our developments is unprecedented - we can verify airflow and performance instantly

The result is a product that flows better than the OE pipework, improves the looks and will outlast the flimsy OE hoses over time

About the Performace Plenum:

This plenum is designed with soft, sweeping lines with the radius's and angles revised and reworked many times over.
The connections are CNC-machined and the plenum comes with suiting silicone hoses for optimum fitment and durability. The improvement in airflow is verified using CFD (Computer Flow Dynamics) as well as in our Superflow SF1020 flow bench.

Taking away restrictions for the turbocharged air that reaches the inlet will provide better throttle response and performance gains all over the powerband

Background

Upon launching the 992 generation, Porsche had abandoned the naturally aspirated engine for the Carrera models. From now on, all 911´s are turbocharged! There are a few differences in between the Carrera and the Turbo models, the displacement being the most obvious, but they also share a lot of components – the plenum is one of these! Throughout the entire development of the 992 products, we had unlimited in-house access to a 992. This way of procedure is how we always do it. It allows us to test our theories, prototypes and 3D-prints without hurdles or delays. We´d like to think that this shows on the finished product – ultimately refined without compromise. We are confident with what we have to offer the market!

Development

With the starting point in a comprehensive 3D-scan of the engine bay to get the structural limitations, we set to work. With the experience we had from previous Porsche plenums, we soon realised the need for a y-joint rather than the t-shaped OE plenum. From an airflow perspective the y-shape is more efficient as it distributes the air more evenly and with less pressure drop. We chose, as usual, to manufacture the plenum from cast aluminium as it allows for shapes that CNC-machining cannot replicate, and to us function always conquers form. Maximum airflow supersedes the bling factor

These hoses are entirely manufactured in high quality silicone for best finish and durability. With three to five layers of armour, dependent on the inner diameter, the hoses withstand high pressure rates as well as high temperatures over an extended period of time. The original hoses are manufactured in rubber that often crack from age over time. This is a durable solution that has the added benefit of improving the looks
