Parts For 997 MKII Turbo 2009>>

About 997 MKII Turbo 2009>>

The refreshed version of the 997.2 turbo made its debut at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show, boasting a host of upgrades and enhancements. Among the most notable changes was the introduction of a brand-new 6-cylinder, 3.8-liter boxer engine, capable of delivering a maximum power output of 500 PS (368 kW; 493 bhp) and 651Nm (480lb-ft) of torque (with an overboost function that raises torque to 700Nm or 516lb⋅ft). This new powerplant utilized revised BorgWarner variable turbine geometry (VTG) turbochargers and shared the construction of other 997.2 DFI engines.

Key improvements to the engine included the adoption of an Alusil block, which combined the cylinders and crankcase into an integrated casting for each bank, reducing weight compared to previous models. Additionally, the turbo's dry sump lubrication system featured integrated oil reservoirs at the bottom of the engine, separate from the crankcase, and utilized six oil pumps. The engine also featured direct fuel injection, a compression ratio of 9.8:1, a slightly larger intake manifold borrowed from the outgoing GT2, and refined exhaust components to improve power and fuel efficiency.

The suspension system underwent revisions, accompanied by new software to enhance handling, while the BorgWarner all-wheel-drive system received updated software for smoother power delivery to the front wheels. Buyers had the option of a manual transmission or the 7-speed PDK dual-clutch gearbox, which replaced the Tiptronic. Optional Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV) was also available, which applied braking to the inner rear wheel to reduce initial understeer during cornering.

Visually, the refreshed 997.2 turbo retained much of its predecessor's design, with updates limited to LED taillights, revised front lamps, "fatter" exhaust pipes, and a new design for the standard 19-inch wheels. Models equipped with the PDK transmission featured an optional 3-spoke steering wheel with gearshift paddles as an alternative to the standard steering wheel with shift buttons.

A more potent iteration of the turbo, dubbed the turbo S made its debut in 2010 with production continuing until early 2013. Exclusively available with the 7-speed PDK transmission, the turbo S boasted enhancements to its engine, delivering an additional power output of 30PS (22kW; 30bhp) compared to the standard turbo, resulting in a total of 530PS (390kW; 523bhp) at 6,000 rpm and 700Nm (516lb⋅ft) of torque.

To achieve this power boost, the turbo S engine underwent modifications including revised intake valve timing and the installation of a new carbon fiber airbox. In addition to its enhanced performance, the turbo S came equipped with carbon-ceramic brakes and the Sport Chrono package as standard features. At the time of its introduction, the turbo S held the title of Porsche's fastest production car alongside the GT2 RS. It accelerated from 0–100 km/h (0–62 mph) in just 3.3 seconds and from 0–200 km/h (0–124 mph) in 10.8 seconds, ultimately reaching a maximum speed of 315 km/h (196 mph). Notably, maximum torque was available between 2,100 rpm and 4,250 rpm, and unlike the regular turbo, the turbo S operated with a higher boost pressure level, ensuring that maximum torque was available for an unlimited period.
